Sayyid Ali Wafa was the son of Muhammad Wafa and led the Wafa'iyya after his father. He became known for his poetry of divine love and his writings on the path, and later Shadhili masters such as Abu al-Mawahib learned from his teachings. He passed away in 807 AH. He is buried beside his father in the Sadat al-Wafa'iyya mosque at the foot of al-Muqattam, where more than twenty awliya of the family lie. The tombs of Ibn Ata Allah and Abu al-Su'ud are close by.
