About Dar Ibn Luqman (Battle of Mansoura)

Dar Ibn Luqman is the house of the judge Fakhr al-Din Ibn Luqman in al-Mansura, where King Louis IX of France was held captive after the Ayyubid and Mamluk forces defeated the Seventh Crusade here in 648 AH (1250). He was released after a large ransom was paid. The house is now a small museum of the battle, with paintings, objects of the period and explanations in Arabic and English. It stands on Port Said Street in the centre of Mansoura and is closed on Mondays and Fridays.
