The madrasa of Počitelj was built in the seventeenth century by Šišman Ibrahim Pasha, the great benefactor of the town, who also endowed the nearby hamam so that its income would support the school. It stands just below the Hajji Alija Masjid on the slope of the old town. It is a stone building in the Ottoman style and part of the protected Ottoman town of Počitelj. It can be seen on the walk up from the river to the mosque and the fortress.
