Hoq Cave is a large limestone cave high above the north-eastern coast of Socotra, extending for kilometres into the mountain. Inscriptions and drawings left by sailors from India, Arabia, Ethiopia and the Greek world between the first century BCE and the sixth century CE were found inside. The cave is reached by a steep hike of one to two hours through bottle trees and desert roses, and inside are great stalactites and a pool. A torch is needed.
