Sayyid Abu Bakr ibn Salim (919–992 AH), known as Fakhr al-Wujud, was one of the most influential Ba-Alawi masters of the sixteenth century. He settled at Aynat, east of Tarim, where he taught, received visitors from across Hadramawt and fed large numbers of guests every day. His litanies and prayers on the Prophet ﷺ are still widely recited. His grave lies beside the large mosque that carries his name, which is easily recognised by its tall white minaret set against the cliffs of Wadi Hadramawt. A weekly gathering of remembrance is still held in the mosque, and his house, Dar al-Hadra, stands nearby.
