Al-Qubba Palace in Tarim was built in 1936 by Sayyid Muhammad ibn Husayn al-Kaf, of the wealthy merchant family who built many of Tarim's palaces. It later served for many years as a hotel welcoming visitors to Tarim. The palace has a richly decorated facade, balconies and a dome, mixing Hadrami and Asian colonial styles, and stands among palm gardens on the edge of the town.
