About Bab al-Musalla Mosque

Jami' Bab al-Musalla stands in the al-Midan district south of the old city of Damascus, on the site of the musalla, the open prayer ground where the people of Damascus gathered for the Eid prayers in medieval times. The square around it, Bab al-Musalla, still carries the name. The mosque has a courtyard and a domed prayer hall and remains a busy place of prayer in this lively quarter.
