About Maqam of Umm Salamah

Sayyidah Umm Salamah, Hind bint Abi Umayyah, was one of the Mothers of the Believers. She emigrated to Abyssinia with her first husband, Abu Salamah, endured great hardship on the emigration to Madinah, and after his passing married Nabi Muhammad ﷺ. She was known for her wisdom, and at Hudaybiyyah her advice helped the Companions follow the Prophet's ﷺ lead. She was the last of the Mothers of the Believers to pass away, and was buried in al-Baqi' in Madinah. This ceremonial grave in the Bab al-Saghir cemetery of Damascus was raised in her honour, one of several here for the wives of the Prophet ﷺ.
