Usfan
Usfan was an important stopping place on the old road between Makkah and Madinah, and Nabi Muhammad ﷺ passed through it on several journeys, including the expedition of al-Hudaybiyyah. The well of al-Tafla is linked by local tradition to one of those visits, when the Prophet ﷺ is said to have blessed the well so that its water became sweet and plentiful. The old well stands in the village of Usfan, about fifty-five kilometres north of Makkah, not far from an Ottoman-era fort. It is simply enclosed and is easily reached by those travelling between the two Holy Cities.
