The Well of al-Shifa', the Well of Healing, lies on the old route between Madinah and Badr. According to local tradition, Nabi Muhammad ﷺ stopped here on the way to Badr, and when the Companions found the water bitter he blessed it and it became sweet, which is how it came by its name. The well is still a landmark for travellers on the road to Badr and is often visited together with the battlefield.
