This small mosque belonged to Banu Ghifar, the tribe of the Companion Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, who settled on the slopes of Mount Sal' after the Hijrah. It marks a place where Nabi Muhammad ﷺ prayed, and the historians of Madinah list it among the mosques associated with him. Its ruins stand on the south-eastern side of Mount Sal', a short walk from Masjid Juhaynah and the Cave of the Prostration. The low stone walls of the old prayer space can still be seen.
