Jabal Ikmah is a canyon near Dadan whose rock faces carry hundreds of ancient inscriptions and carvings from the Dadanite and Lihyanite periods, often called an open-air library. The texts record religious offerings, names and daily life, and help trace the early development of Arabic writing. The inscriptions were added to UNESCO's Memory of the World register in 2023. Visits are guided and ticketed, usually together with Dadan, and include a short walk into the canyon.
