The Lahore High Court began as the Chief Court of the Punjab and became the High Court in 1919. Its main building on Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, the Mall, was completed in 1889 in red brick in the Indo-Gothic style. The building has pointed arches, towers and long arcades around its courtyards, and it is one of the landmark colonial buildings of the Mall. It is a working court, so visitors usually see it from outside.
