The Sulaymaniyya takiyya was built in 1543, early in the Ottoman period, as a lodge for Sufis and their students. It is one of the earliest Ottoman takiyyas in Cairo. Its small courtyard is surrounded by the cells where the Sufis lived. It stands on al-Surugiyya Street in Darb al-Ahmar.
