This domed tomb was built in 1322 for the amir Alam al-Din Sanjar, one of the amirs of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad, who is buried in it. It was called Dar al-Akhira, the house of the hereafter, and it is among the earliest free-standing stone domes in Cairo. The dome is ribbed with twenty-four ribs above a drum with an inscription band, and a wooden cenotaph stands inside. It stands at the junction of al-Suyufiyya and al-Hilmiya streets in al-Khalifa.
