Sayyid Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn al-Abbas, known as Sidi Shibl, was a grandson of al-Abbas, the uncle of the Prophet ﷺ. Tradition holds that he came to Egypt with the conquest and fell here with a band of companions, and the town of al-Shuhada, the Martyrs, is named after them. His mosque is the centre of the town and one of the most visited shrines in Monufia, with a large mawlid each year.
