Maslama ibn Mukhallad al-Ansari was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ from Madinah who took part in the conquest of Egypt and later governed it for about fifteen years, a period in which the mosque of Amr ibn al-As was enlarged. He passed away in 62 AH. His mosque and shrine stand in Old Cairo, a short walk north of the mosque of Amr ibn al-As.
