The zawiya at Živčići-Vukeljići, in the hills above Fojnica, is one of the old centres of the Naqshbandi order in Bosnia. It has been led for generations by shaykhs of the Hadžimejlić family, who are regarded in Bosnia as a lineage of spiritual guides. The zawiya is a traditional building in a rural setting, used for gatherings of dhikr, teaching and hospitality, and its line continues today at the larger Mesudija zawiya in Kaćuni. The Fojnica hills also hold the zawiya of Oglavak and several old turbes, which make the area a place of ziyara in central Bosnia.
