Skakavac is one of the highest waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dropping about 98 metres from a cliff in the forests north of Sarajevo. The surrounding area is a protected nature monument, about 12 kilometres from the city near the village of Nahorevo. Marked trails lead through beech and pine forest to viewpoints at the top and the bottom of the falls, with a circular route of a few hours. The falls are at their fullest in spring after the snow melts. It is a popular escape for Sarajevans at weekends, and the walk can be combined with a picnic.
