Livno

On the high Krug plateau below Mount Cincar, above Livno, several hundred horses roam free. They are descended from working horses that farmers released when machines took their place in the twentieth century, and they now live wild in herds. The plateau offers wide views over the Livno field, and local guides run jeep and quad tours to find the herds. The horses are used to people but are wild animals, so it is best to keep a respectful distance. The road up is rough and best suited to a sturdy vehicle.
