Farwa ibn Musayk al-Muradi was a Companion of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ from Yemen, who came to the Prophet ﷺ and was appointed over the tribes of Murad, Madhhij and Zubayd. He was among the first Companions to come to Sana'a, and this mosque is attributed to him, one of the oldest in the city. His grave lies inside the women's prayer hall of the mosque, and the grave of Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Murtada is on its northern side. The old part of the mosque has a domed prayer hall and a minaret, with a modern prayer hall and school beside it.
