Detwah Lagoon near Qalansiyah, at the western end of Socotra, is a shallow turquoise lagoon separated from the sea by a long sandbar of white sand, and is protected as a Ramsar wetland for its birds. A short climb to the viewpoint above gives the best view of the lagoon, and boats leave from nearby for Shu'ab Beach.
