Bab al-Yaman, the Gate of Yemen, is the main gate in the southern wall of the Old City of Sana'a, through which travellers left for Ibb, Taiz and Aden. It is the most ornate of the city's gates and the usual starting point for visiting the old city. The gate opens onto a busy square and the lanes of Souq al-Milh, with the tower houses of the old city rising behind it.
