Rawdat al-Ulama, the Garden of the Scholars, is the section of the al-Dahdah cemetery in Damascus where many of the city's leading scholars of the twentieth century were buried. Among them are Shaykh Abu al-Khayr al-Maydani, Shaykh Muhammad al-Hashimi, Shaykh Muhammad Sa'id al-Burhani and his son Muhammad Hisham, Shaykh Mahmud al-Rankusi and Shaykh Muhammad Lutfi al-Fayyumi. Visitors come to send greetings and prayers upon these scholars, many of whom taught one another, so that the graves here trace the chains of learning of modern Damascus.
