This mosque in the Rukn al-Din district on the slopes of Mount Qasiyun is named after Mulla Ramadan al-Bouti, a Kurdish scholar who left the Butan region and settled in Damascus with his family in the 1930s. He was known for his worship, his scrupulousness and his teaching, and he was the father of Shaykh Muhammad Sa'id Ramadan al-Bouti. The mosque is used for prayer and lessons and honours a family that played an important part in the religious life of modern Damascus.
