Sayyiduna Nawfal ibn al-Harith ibn Abd al-Muttalib was a cousin of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ and one of the older men of Banu Hashim. He was taken captive with the Quraysh at Badr and ransomed, and he later accepted Islam and emigrated to Madinah, where he lived close to the Prophet ﷺ. He is remembered for supplying spears for the Muslim army at the Battle of Hunayn. Nawfal passed away in Madinah in 15 AH, during the caliphate of Umar, and was buried in al-Baqi'. His house stood near the mosque, in what is today the expanded precinct of Masjid al-Nabawi.
