The Shabandar Mosque is an old neighbourhood mosque in Adhamiya, built in 1320 AH / 1902, in the last years of Ottoman rule, by Mahmud Ibrahim al-Shabandar of the Shabandar family, Baghdad merchants who founded several mosques in the city. He was buried in its garden in 1906, and the mosque was restored in 1938. It is a small mosque of about 300 square metres with a summer prayer hall and the family's burial ground in its garden, and it is still looked after by the Shabandar family. It is a few minutes' walk from the Abu Hanifa mosque and the Imams' Bridge.
