This shrine at al-Shafi, north of Basra, is honoured as the grave of Sayyid Salih, a son of Imam Ali al-Hadi. It is cared for by the Shia Endowment. It stands on the main road between Basra and Maysan and is a convenient place for travellers to stop and pray. A new dome has recently been built over the grave.
