This shrine in Qaryat Nasr, north of Basra, is honoured by local tradition as a maqam of Nabi Sulayman ibn Dawud, the prophet-king to whom Allah gave wisdom and power over the wind and the jinn. It is a place of local visitation in the countryside on the road between Basra and al-Qurna, and the shrine of Sayyid Salih ibn Ali al-Hadi lies on the same road.
