The Umayyad Park, formerly Tishreen Park, is the largest park in Damascus, laid out along the Barada near Umayyad Square. It is the setting of the city's annual international flower show. The park has wide lawns, shaded walks and cafes, and is popular with families in the evenings. The Syrian National Library and the Damascus Opera House stand on Umayyad Square nearby.
