The Takritiyya Madrasa was built in 698 AH (1298) by the Mamluk vizier Taqi al-Din al-Takriti as a school and prayer hall, and contains his tomb, which is why it is also called al-Turba al-Takritiyya. It is noted for its fine Mamluk stone and stucco decoration. The building stands on Madaris street in al-Salihiyya, opposite the Ashrafiyya Dar al-Hadith, among the Ayyubid and Mamluk madrasas at the foot of Mount Qasioun, such as the Atabakiyya and the Murshidiyya.
