The Murshidiyya Madrasa, also called Madrasat al-Khatun, was founded in the mid-thirteenth century by Khadija Khatun, daughter of the Ayyubid ruler al-Mu'azzam Isa. It is one of the madrasas endowed by princesses of the Ayyubid family in the quarter of al-Salihiyya. The madrasa stands among the old schools of al-Salihiyya at the foot of Mount Qasioun, beside the Atabakiyya madrasa and close to the Ashrafiyya Dar al-Hadith and the Takritiyya. Its stone facade and portal survive, and the quarter is easily explored on foot together with the mosque and grave of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi.
