Hammam al-Muqaddam is one of the oldest working bathhouses of Damascus, dating from the Mamluk period in the fourteenth century, in the old al-Salihiyya quarter on the lower slopes of Mount Qasiyun. It keeps the traditional sequence of domed rooms from cool to hot, and local families and visitors still come here for the full Damascene bath with scrubbing and massage.
