Souq al-Saghah is the goldsmiths' market of Old Damascus, a short covered market of jewellers' shops beside the southern wall of the Umayyad Mosque. It has been the city's gold market for generations and remains one of the busiest places in the old city for buying gold and silver. The market runs close to the neighbouring Qabaqibiyya lane, once the market of wooden clog makers and now known for carpenters and antique shops. Both lie between Souq al-Hamidiyah and the Umayyad Mosque, so they are easily combined with a visit to the mosque.
