The Nur al-Din Bimaristan is a medieval hospital in the Old City of Damascus, founded by Zengid ruler Nur al-Din Mahmud. It is an example of an Islamic bimaristan (hospital) that provided medical care and education. The building features a stone courtyard and an ornate entrance portal, showcasing traditional Damascene architecture. It was later converted into a museum dedicated to the history of Arab medicine and science, displaying medical instruments and detailing historical treatments and physicians.
