The Sammadiyya Zawiya is the lodge and mosque of the Sammadi family of Sufi shaykhs, who taught and held gatherings of remembrance in Damascus from the Ottoman period onwards. It lies in the al-Shaghour quarter by the Bab al-Saghir gate and is listed by the Damascus Awqaf directorate among the city's historic zawiyas, which records that it was restored under its supervision. The zawiya is a modest building opening onto the lane near the Bab al-Saghir gate, and it is still used as a mosque. It is a short walk from the Bab al-Saghir cemetery, with the graves of members of the Prophet's family, Companions and scholars, and from the Saruji Mosque.
