About Grave of Imam Ibn Malik al-Nahwi

Imam Jamal al-Din Abu ʿAbdullah Muhammad ibn ʿAbdullah ibn Malik al-Taʾi al-Jayyani al-Andalusi was one of the greatest scholars of Arabic grammar and language. Born in Jaén in al-Andalus, he later settled in Damascus, where he taught Arabic, Qur’anic recitation and the Islamic sciences. He is best known for composing Alfiyyat Ibn Malik , a celebrated poem of approximately one thousand verses summarising the principles of Arabic grammar, which continues to be studied throughout the Muslim world. He died in Damascus in 672 AH/1274 CE and was buried in the al-Salihiyyah district on the slopes of Mount Qasiyun.
