Khubayb ibn Adi was one of the Companions taken captive after the betrayal at al-Raji' in 4 AH and sold to Quraysh in Makkah. They brought him out to al-Tan'im to be killed, and before his death he asked to pray two rak'ahs, which became the practice of those facing death. This mosque stands at the place of his martyrdom. The mosque lies in al-Tan'im about a kilometre from Masjid Aisha, and it is used for prayer by many who come to al-Tan'im to enter ihram for Umrah.
