Haddaj Well is a vast ancient well in the oasis of Tayma, about 65 metres across and 11 to 12 metres deep, dating back to around the sixth century BCE. It was lined with dressed stone and fed the palm groves of Tayma through stone channels, and it was rebuilt about four hundred years ago. Until 1954 water was drawn by camels walking along ramps around the rim, after which pumps were installed. The well has been restored as a visitor site in the old part of Tayma, with set opening hours in the afternoon and evening.
