This small mosque was built under Maharaja Ranjit Singh at the request of Moran, his wife, beside her house in the Walled City. Moran became well known in later life for her piety and for funding schools in Lahore, and the mosque has carried her name since. The mosque stands in Papar Mandi inside Shah Alami Gate and is a protected monument. Its white prayer hall with cusped arches is still in daily use, and the Neevin Mosque and Bazar Hakeeman are a few minutes' walk away.
