Shaykh Muhammad Abu al-Hasan al-Ukbari was a 6th-century AH scholar and spiritual figure from the historic town of Ukbara, north of Baghdad. Known as al-Jawsaqi al-Ukbari, he was remembered locally for his learning, piety and religious guidance. He died around 575 AH / 1180 CE and was buried at his residence in the village of al-Jawsaq, within the old territory of Ukbara. His grave later developed into a recognised shrine and remains a place of visitation near present-day Dujail.
