Sayyiduna Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya was the son of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib and Khawla of the Banu Hanifa. Mazarat Misr tells of the letter in which he made peace with his brother Sayyiduna al-Husayn after a disagreement, and records that he passed away in 80 AH. He is honoured in the room beside the grave of Uqba ibn Amir in the Qarafa al-Sughra, together with Dhul-Nun al-Misri. Other places are also honoured as his grave, including al-Baqi' in Madinah.
