Qubbat al-Fadawiyya was built between 1479 and 1481 by the amir Yashbak min Mahdi, the powerful dawadar and vizier of Sultan Qaytbay. He passed away in 1480 before it was finished, and Qaytbay ordered its completion. The great brick dome stands on a stone base with a carved portal bearing Qaytbay's name. It is now used as a mosque and stands in al-Abbasiya.
