Goat's Bridge is an Ottoman bridge of the sixteenth century that crosses the Miljacka just east of the city, where the river leaves its gorge. It stood on the old caravan road towards the east and Istanbul, and travellers leaving or arriving in Sarajevo crossed it. It has one wide main arch with two round openings in the piers that lighten the structure and let floodwater through, and it is built mainly of the pale stone also used in the White Fortress and the Višegrad Gate. It is a protected national monument. A riverside path called Dariva leads to it from the old town, making a pleasant walk of half an hour or so.
