Musa Mosque, on the south-eastern side of the Old City of Sana'a, was founded in the eighth century AH by Musa ibn al-Makin, during the Rasulid period, which saw many mosques and schools built across Yemen. The prayer hall is a rectangular building with a flat roof carried on vaulted bays, with a richly decorated mihrab, courtyards to the south and west, ablution facilities and a women's prayer hall.
