Al-Alami Mosque is an old mosque in the northern part of the Old City of Sana'a. Its founder is not known for certain; some historians link it to Alam al-Din, who was involved in the city's affairs in the seventh century AH, and it was renewed in 602 AH. It was rebuilt in the eleventh century AH, and an inscription on its prayer hall gives the date 1014 AH. The mosque has a prayer hall with a flat timber roof on stone columns and arches, a minaret, a courtyard, a pool and a well, and traditional baths. It stands among the tower houses of the Al-Alami quarter, which takes its name from it.
