Al-Abid Mosque is the only mosque of the village of al-A'sha, north-east of Sana'a, and has long served as its place of learning, with a small school beside it. An inscription in the decoration of its wooden ceiling dates its building to 721 AH. It belongs to the group of small cube-shaped mosques with ornate painted timber ceilings, like the mosques of Asnaf and Qaydan, and has a courtyard, a pool and a well.
