Damascus
Al-Qadam, the Footprint, is an old quarter on the southern edge of Damascus that takes its name from this mosque. Inside is a stone bearing a footprint that tradition has long attributed to Nabi Musa, and medieval travellers such as Ibn Battuta described the mosque on the road leading south from the city towards the Hijaz. The mosque has been rebuilt several times and is still a busy place of prayer. In the 1980s the hadith scholar Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Arna'ut led prayers and taught here.
