Ibrahim Palace was built in 1555 in the centre of Hofuf as a fortified base, and was later renovated by the governor Ibrahim ibn Ufaysan, after whom it is named. Its square walls with corner towers enclose barracks, stables and a domed mosque with a tall stone minaret showing Ottoman influence. The mosque is one of the twelve sites of the Al-Ahsa Oasis listed by UNESCO in 2018. The palace was restored in 2019 and covers about 16,500 square metres; Masjid al-Jabri and the Qaisariyyah Souq are a short walk away.
