Dar al-Arqam was the house of al-Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam, one of the first to accept Islam, at the foot of al-Safa. In the early years of the call, Nabi Muhammad ﷺ met the Muslims here in secret, teaching them and praying with them away from the eyes of Quraysh, and it was here that Umar ibn al-Khattab came to accept Islam. In the Abbasid period al-Khayzuran, the mother of Harun al-Rashid, acquired the house and it became known as Dar al-Khayzuran. Its site was later taken into the expansions of Masjid al-Haram and now lies within the mosque beside al-Safa.
